Chruch in Maluku : Hollandische Kerk

Hollandische Kerk Church was built on April 20, 1873 and inaugurated two years later on May 23, 1875 by two Dutch missionaries named Maurits Lantzius and John Hoeke. The walls were erected on thirty tombstones on which carved names and words in Dutch. Yes, this old building stood on the burial grounds of thirty Dutch soldiers killed in the Banda conquest war. So do not be surprised, if the stone floor arranged in the form of a cross will make you stunned when first set foot here. Many versions of the story of the construction of the only church in Naira. But one thing is certain, this building is a silent witness of Naira civilization for centuries.

Hollandische Kerk still holds some old bibles dating from the 18th century.
